This morning, I woke up and got ready to visit The Holocaust Museum with Bryan, Gizel, and Esmeralda. When we came to D.C., Patrick told us that if we went to this museum to be prepared because this museum's history and the graphic images would be very impactful. When we got there, I mentally prepared myself because I was not sure what I was going to see. I liked how the museum was set up in chronological order of everything that took place from the beginning to the end of the Holocaust. It was a great experience I was able to learn so much from, and I recommend that others consider seeing this museum.

Today we had CHCI programming, so we woke up early to meet CHCI staff for breakfast. Once breakfast was over, we did a check activity with Cristian Pineda. After our check-in activity, we started our GW Seminar with Professor Nicole Bartels where she spoke to us about leadership, identity, and personal values. I enjoyed her presentation because we were able to learn more from each other. Cristian talked to us about values and imposter syndrome--I loved this presentation because a lot of the things he talked about resonated with me as I have often thought to myself "Do I belong here?" or "Now What?"

Today was a pretty calm day at work. I was designing the welcome signs for the 1890 scholars and making changes to name tags to finalize them for printing. I was able to have a conversation with my supervisor on issues that we are facing. He told me that he's going to be out next week, but that I will be informed of what I will work on next week.

Happy Juneteenth! Today HEP/CAMP interns woke up to go see what events were being held around D.C. for the Juneteenth holiday. We rode on the metro to an event where we were able to learn about various organizations that are working in the D.C. community to help not just African Americans but the community overall. Some of these organizations are teaching people their constitutional rights and some are tutoring students to improve the education system.

Once we saw the booths, we decided to find some soul food. I got an Uber for us to “Henry’s Soul Cafe” and I got some Ribs with sides of macaroni and cheese and cornbread stuffing. When I got my plate, it reminded me of my home in South Georgia where the county stores serve awesome ribs and host a loving community. We walked to the park to eat our lunch together and later went back to the metro to come back to the dorms. While walking to the dorms, we noticed the market near the Foggy Bottom Metro was open. We stopped by and bought some paletas. There were so many options to choose from, and I got a watermelon paleta with tajín and chamoy. It was really good!! Once I got back to my room, I took a shower and a nap because I was tired. Once I woke up, I cooked a meal to take to work the next day.

I left early for work today to get there at 9:00 AM instead of 9:30 AM for the USDA intern check-ins and to escort OPPE intern Daniela to pick up her credential card. I also checked in with Joshua Moose because of a task that he had for me. Once I got done escorting Daniela, I came back and had a TEAMS call with Joshua regarding the task he had for me. He gave me instructions and I started on the task I was given. Once I completed the first part of this task, I helped Ms. Willette by adding shipping labels to the packages we prepared a few weeks ago for the 1890 Liaisons. Once we got done with the packages, I packed my things and headed back to the dorm.

Today I worked from home and had a meeting at 10:00 AM with the 1890 Liaisons to review updates and issues to prepare for the 1890 scholars. I was assigned a new project to create a QR code for the agenda of the program. I was told to check in with Joyce from OPPE for advice and assistance on how to create a QR code.

Today was a chill day so I slept in for a while to rest from this previous work week. When I woke up, I cleaned my dorm room and got ready because later today the other interns and I were going to go out to eat. Around 6:30 PM, we all met downstairs for us to walk together to get food. We went to eat at Roaming Rooster which was very good and I got some strawberry lemonade from Andy's Pizza--this is the best lemonade near our dorms to try.
